Inspired by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s “The Spider’s Thread,” this work depicts sin and punishment, hell and paradise, light and darkness, and a single thread connecting lives, using circus-specific expressions of “limits,” including the body, gravity, centrifugal force, and circular motion. What does it mean to be “human”? Where is the boundary between good and evil? Within the cosmic spiral of reincarnation, audiences confront fundamental questions.
