SCF’s new centre at Yamaichi Mokuzai is due to begin operating in October 2026. It extends the encounter between contemporary circus, performing artists and timber craftsmanship developed through KUMA LABO.
Principal partner
Yamaichi Mokuzai
Based in Marugame, Yamaichi Mokuzai processes and supplies timber through sawmilling, construction-timber sales and pre-cut processing. As SCF’s principal partner, it produces the timber scenography for Workers! and provides a place where creation can develop alongside craftspeople.
An environment for training and creation
Contemporary circus needs spaces suited to daily training and extended creation periods. Aerial arts and tightrope disciplines in particular require large volumes, sufficient height and robust anchor points.
Second creation site
Former Kanda Elementary School
The gymnasium of the former Kanda Elementary School in Yamamoto, Mitoyo, is a creation site distinct from Cirque‑MA.
