ARTE TOKYO PODCAST “ARTE TOKYO,” an arts festival that makes the city of Tokyo itself its stage.
Contemporary circus that uses the space up into the air as its performance area will appear around the observation deck in Odaiba.
Michiko Tanaka, director of ARTE TOKYO CIRCUS, discusses what contemporary circus—a form of expression born in France in the 1970s—is; the challenges of performing in the city rather than in a theater or tent; and why things that disappear in an instant remain in our memories.
The interviewer is Seiichi Saito, executive producer of ARTE TOKYO.
The festival runs from October 10 to December 31, 2026.
